I have been threatening to save some money by getting rid of some of my cable / phone services.
So, finally this last week I started to hack away.
First I "ported"/moved my 30 year old home/landline number to my Verizon cell phone. This went well and in less than two days, it was a done deal. Now anyone dialing my old number reaches my cell.
But - yes there always buts, there are consequences. Some things I expected and some not. Starting with how much I an used to seeing an incoming call number displayed on my TV screen. I like to know who is on the line. And in the same vein, my answering machine no longer is of any use. My cell phone's voice mail picks up and answers if i don't. So it's a matter of looking at the tiny disply before they hang up or are sent to the cloud voicemail.
